21 Oct Ottobrata
Hello from Italy where I’m spending a week enjoying some welcome sunshine. The gradual onset of autumn and the leisurely change in the landscape here in the foothills of the Apennines is a beautiful process that usually includes warm days of cloudless blue skies. So predictable is this treat that, my neighbour Elis tells me, they have a word for it; Ottobrata. I’m reading ‘On Painting’ by the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, a recent discovery which I am finding fascinating. I’ve also been reading about Kerry James Marshall, in preparation for seeing his show at the Royal Academy, which is on until 18 January 2026. Having just completed a series of eight painting I’m enjoying thinking about what next.

I’m excited to be showing some of the following work in the group Christmas show at Natasha O’Kane Art in Lewes, that runs from 29th Novemeber to 14th December, with the Private View on Friday 28th November. It’s now online with more details to follow soon.

I’ll be showing ‘A Hand of Fabric 2’ along with a small number of works from this series. I’m just in the process of titling them, so those will follow in another newsletter.
Have a great week.
